Benign Symmetrical Lipomatosis



Abstract
Benign symetrical lipomatosis is a rare condition characterised by symmetrical deposition of adipose tissue in whole body.
The etiology is uncertain. Many diverse disease process have been noted in association with hypothalamic and hypophysial lesion, endocrine adenoma, hypothyroidism, renal tubular acidosis, gout, abnormal glucose tolerance,
hypertriglyceridemia, and alcoholism.
Grossly the adipose deposit are firm, non-tender and they blend well into the sunounding subcutaneous fat.
Histologicaly the fatty tissue is indistinguishable from other lipomatous tissue.
We experienced 3 cases of the benign symmetric lipomatosis and report them with a review of literatures.
